HCC's analysis of the Yew Tree Drive consultation and
Parish Council's views
Our intrepid Parish Councillor, David Jenkins abseiled 350 feet down the Spinnaker Tower on Sunday 27th June
to raise funds for The Stroke Association.
‘Soaring 170 metres (555 feet) above Portsmouth Harbour and the Solent, the Spinnaker Tower
is taller than the London Eye, Blackpool Tower and Big Ben and has already established itself as
a national icon for Britain.’

Lighting and incomplete roads continue to be a problem in Bluebell Way,
the Council together with Area K Residents Association, is in regular contact
with the developer to pursue an early adoption of the road.
This will allow maintenance requests to be dealt with much more quickly.
The Parish Council has adopted proposals to work towards providing a safer route to school for pedestrians and cyclists. A number of improvements are suggested and will be campaigned for. Details of the proposals can be viewed using this link
Residents are welcome to make
representations on planning issues at Planning
Committee meetings see the website for details of

The Council has campaigned
for a library for Whiteley for some years, when
the proposals to redevelop Whiteley Village came
forward the campaigning stepped up a level.
As a result there are plans to extend
Meadowside Leisure Centre to provide a community
room of 100m2
which may include a library space together with parish rooms as part
of the village redevelopment.
It will be great to see this facility completed.

The Council has been
campaigning for improvements to the bus services
for Whiteley residents, particularly now the Yew
Tree bus link has been completed.
County Councillor Freddie Allgood has advised that
although new routes have been identified HCC has
been unsuccessful in securing funding. Improvements
will not be happening in the short term
